Burial Plans and fundraising date for Mama Chistabel Ouko unveiled by Denis Buyu.

Various leaders have continued to mourn Christabel Ouko, the widow of former Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko. Mrs Ouko died Monday after a car crash at Kipsitet along the Awasi-Kericho Highway as she left the inauguration ceremony of Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o. President Uhuru Kenya, Hon Raila odinga, Gov. Peter Nyongo among the leaders who have eulogied Mrs Ouko.

President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his sadness following the tragic death of Mrs Christabel Ouko, the widow of former Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko. “She served the nation as a civil servant, and then supported her husband as he too served Kenya with distinction. In later years, she devoted herself to her family and to her community; in doing so, she helped others make the most of their talents, and earned their gratitude,” said the President in a statement from State House.

President Kenyatta sent his condolences to the Ouko family and friends. “May they be comforted, and may they be granted the strength to come through this trying period,” said the President.

Prof Nyong’o led the people of Kisumu and the local leaders in paying their tribute to Mrs Ouko, described as soft-spoken and humble. “We are very deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our lovely mother Mama Christabel Ouko. We were friends for many years and this is a loss very difficult to take or to accept,” Prof Nyong’o said:

“But we pray to God to look after the family at this time of deep sorrow. God bless Christabel. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” Governor Nyong’o said. At the same time, opposition leader Mr Raila Odinga has expressed his sadness following Mrs Ouko’s death. In a statement, Mr Odinga said the country will greatly miss the late Christabel whom he said will be remembered for her courage and determination against great odds.

“We have known Christabel and the family of the late Robert Ouko for a long time. “Like her late husband, Christabel was outstanding in her commitment to our country and her family. She played critical roles in the development of our country and rendered selfless services to her immediate community,” Mr Odinga.

“While we will deeply miss her, we will forever remember her for her courage and determination against great odds. It is our hope that the support of friends and friends will provide some comfort to her family at this difficult time,” added the ODM party leader. Mr Odinga said it is sad that Mrs Ouko lived and died with the pain of never knowing who was responsible for the cruel murder of her husband or finding justice for him.

The Chairman of the funeral Committee Mr. Denis Buyu Randiak on Monday 28th August 2017 gave the itinerary toward the burial of the late Mrs Ouko whose body lies at a Nairobi Funeral Home. Friends and family are meeting Monday frrom 5.30pm at CITAM Valley Road.. and at her rural home in Koru, Muhoroni Subcounty. Other meetings are also taking place in Nyaera. Othe people in the committe include Rosa Buyu, Women Rep kisumu County, Onyango Koyoo, MP-Elect Muhoroni Constituency, Mugo Kibati DG Vision 2030, David Musila, former senator Kitui County among others.

A memorial service will be held CITAM, Valley Road on Wednesday 30th August 2017 at 8.00AM. The cortege will leave Nairobi on the same 30th August 2017 for an overnight stay in her rural home. Burial will take place on Thirsdaday 31st August 2017 in Koru starting 9am.

There will be a harambee on Tuesday 29th August 2017 at CITAM, Valley Road from 5.30pm. To this end a paybil number has been created and those who wont attend are requested to foward their contributions.
